Be Present And In The Moment
After 30 years of photographing weddings on Long Island, NY and have worked with hundreds of couples I would love to share a simple way to make your wedding day the best day ever and to be present and in the moment.
Slow down and breathe, this is the day you have dreamed of and have planned for months or even years. Be present in moment and take a mental pictures! It is easy to get lost in the fun, excitement and drama of the day and the whole day can become a blur.
Take a look at your beautiful gown, touch and feel the fabric, your veil, beautiful jewelry, garter and special family heirlooms that you will be wearing. Your beautiful gown you searched and fell in love with, now is the moment you put on your dress – look in the mirror and say how great this is! This amazing moment is now real.
Finally this incredible time has come, when you arrive at your ceremony and you are waiting in your car. Watching as your guests are running into the church seeing the smiles and joy of your family and friends. Look around at the outside of the ceremony take in the beauty of your church remember the grandeur of the columns. Slow down the moment when you enter the doors, look at the flowers decorating the pews.
Take a breath before you take a step down the aisle, anticipating your vows. The fairy-tale moment you have been waiting for when you see each other for the first time – if it’s looking down the long aisle or a first look, it is important to freeze this once in a lifetime experience. Savor the magical moment when your eyes meet.
After the wedding photography of your bridal party and family are finished BEFORE you go into your cocktail hour. Take a second and relax in your bridal suite. Spend a few minutes together and talk about the sentimental and funny moments of the day while you are eating the fantastic cocktail hour food. Lets face it another reason why weddings are great, food…savor all of the hors d’oeuvres.
At the reception a great idea to take a group picture. Great opportunity to greet your guests.
Be present when you about to enter your classic ballroom reception or less formal rustic barn. Walking into your perfect reception and listen to your guests cheer and applaud your entrance. Look at the happy faces of your loved ones celebrating your wedding.
As your reception goes into the night and celebration continues be present with your best friend, hold hands and stay together. Experience your wedding together, be present for the romance and love.
